Vietnam: Japanese Language and Culture Program by Mitsui Vietnam and University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi

After commencing business operations in 2007, Mitsui & Co. Vietnam Ltd. decided to support Vietnam's first international symposium on Japanese linguistics and Japanese language teaching. The symposium was held at the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, which has played a leading role in the field of Japanese language education. The aim of the initiative was to support Japanese language education and contribute to the improvement of human resource development. Mitsui also supports two new courses at the University of Languages and International Studies: a three-year program in Japanese linguistics for Japanese language specialists introduced in 2008, and a course in business communication for students with an existing knowledge of Japanese.
The former program was established in response to a rapid increase in the number of people learning Japanese in Vietnam. Japanese language education experts have been brought from Japan to provide those involved in Japanese language teaching throughout Vietnam with the opportunity for specialized study of Japanese linguistics and Japanese language education. The aim is to raise the standard of Japanese language teaching in Vietnam.
The latter program reflects the growing number of Japanese-affiliated companies in Vietnam, which is generating increased demand for Japanese-capable staff and human resources with extensive knowledge of Japanese culture and business practices. The aim is to contribute to the development of human resources capable of meeting the real business need for high-quality human resources by providing courses in Japanese, Japanese culture, and business communications.
