Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kenichi Hori; hereinafter "Mitsui") has completed the full acquisition of Inversiones Mitta SpA (CEO: Ignacio Correa; hereinafter "Mitta"), the holding company of Chile's largest fleet management company*1, Autorentas del Pacífico SpA. Mitsui initially increased its ownership stake incrementally to 60% in 2021, then 80% in 2022, and has now acquired the remaining shares to achieve 100% ownership.
Mitta currently operates approximately 27,000 vehicles and employs around 1,100 people in Chile. The company provides automotive operating lease services (BtoB) to sectors including mining, energy, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and retail, as well as car rental services (BtoB and BtoC). Since Mitsui's initial investment, both companies have collaborated on implementing digital platform solutions, particularly in connected fleet*2 systems. Going forward, Mitsui and Mitta will promote the following initiatives:

  • Expansion within Latin America (accelerating synergies with Mitta Peru operations in neighboring Peru).
  • Promoting carbon neutrality initiatives, including the introduction of EVs, FCVs (Electric Vehicles / Fuel Cell Vehicles), and biofuels.
  • Utilizing connected fleet technologies to enhance customer safety and operational efficiency.
  • Providing fleet management services that align with changing customer needs in Latin America and other regions.

With Mitta becoming a wholly owned subsidiary, Mitsui aims to leverage its global network and comprehensive capabilities to expand business scale and respond effectively to the diversifying needs of its customers.

*1 Fleet management involves comprehensive vehicle management, including insurance, taxes, and maintenance, supporting customers' vehicle operations through leasing and rental services.
