Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui", Head Office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Kenichi Hori) has established and begun to administer grant-type university scholarship programs for Brazilian residents in Japan and students from India. The purpose of the programs is to strengthen links with Brazil and India as leading countries in the Global South, and to develop human resources capable of working successfully in a global arena.

Through these scholarship programs to provide opportunities for students from both countries to acquire advanced technology and knowledge in Japan, Mitsui will contribute to the prosperity of these vibrant countries. The programs will also help recipients to become bridges between Japan and world, and to take up the challenge of addressing various social issues.
* Main development programs for foreign nationals
• Scholarship programs for elementary and junior and senior high school students at Brazilian schools in Japan (a total of 5,455 students since 2009)
• Mitsui-Bussan Scholarship Program for Indonesia (a total of 52 students since 1992)
• Support for students from Asian countries through the Mitsui Bussan Trade Promotion Foundation (a total of 434 students since 1989)
• Support to enable leading competitors in the Canadian National Japanese Speech Contest to visit Japan (introduced in March 2024)
