Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui", Head Office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Kenichi Hori) , through its Singapore-based subsidiary, Mitsui & Co. (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd., has completed its investment in ACI Motors Limited ("ACI Motors", Head Office: Dhaka, MD and CEO: Dr. F. H. Ansarey) a group company of ACI Group in Bangladesh, and is today one of the largest and fastest growing mobility solution providers locally.
ACI Group is one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh with diverse businesses in the fields of mobility, pharmaceuticals, nutrition and agriculture, food, consumer products and retail. As the group's mobility business company, ACI Motors assembles and sells global brand motorcycles, agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles, and construction equipment from Yamaha Motor, Yanmar, Indian agricultural equipment manufacturer Sonalika, and Chinese truck manufacturer Foton. In Bangladesh, the market for all of these products is expanding rapidly, but demand for motorcycles in particular is increasing, as they account for 70% of the total automobile industry and are the "people's feet". The agricultural machinery market is expected to grow further in the future, as the government focuses on agricultural development.
Alongside the investment into ACI Motors, Mitsui will contribute to the rapidly growing Bangladesh market of over 170 million people through this strategic partnership with ACI Group to improve quality of life through rapidly providing integrated mobility and mechanization solutions for agri-businesses, transportation, and infrastructure. Mitsui will also aim to further expand its activities in areas such as retail and logistics leveraging the rapid growth of the consumer market in Bangladesh.
