On March 27, 2025, the Mitsui Bussan Scholarship Program for Indonesia held a graduation ceremony to celebrate the graduation of two recipients as 22nd batch.
The event was attended by approximately 40 participants, including representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Japan, members of the Steering Committee, officers from the Mitsui Bussan Trade Promotion Foundation, current scholarship recipients, families of the graduates, and alumni.
The Mitsui Bussan Scholarship Program for Indonesia was established in 1992 to promote friendship between Japan and Indonesia and to develop human resources who will serve as a bridge between the two countries in the future. To date, the program has supported 54 scholarship recipients.
The two graduates reflected on their 5.5 years in Japan—1.5 years at a Japanese language school followed by four years at university. They expressed their gratitude, stating, "Thanks to the scholarship, I was able to focus on my studies with peace of mind and gain many valuable experiences," and "Meeting diverse people, sharing both hardships and joys, has contributed to my personal growth. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me." Both graduates will continue their studies in graduate programs at Japanese universities starting in April.
Counselor Uno and his wife, who sent two graduates to Japan in 2019 as the President Director & CEO of PT. Mitsui Indonesia, also attended the commemorative event. Counselor Uno shared his reflections, stating, "I am sure their families were worried, but I am truly delighted to see how much they have grown. I hope they will make the most of what they learned during their studies in Japan, and serve as a bridge between Japan and Indonesia, contributing to the world."
Additionally, GM Onda of the Corporate Sustainability Div., highlighted the impressive aspect of the scholarship recipients strengthening their bonds through mutual support in this program. GM Kikuchi of the General Administration, Personnel & Corporate Planning Div. at PT. Mitsui Indonesia, also delivered congratulatory remarks, commending the graduates for their dedication to their studies despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and global geopolitical changes.
Mitsui & Co., Ltd. will continue to support scholarship recipients by leveraging its global business operations, aiming to cultivate individuals who are engaged in social issues and can apply their knowledge and experiences to make meaningful contributions on the world stage.
