Celebrating the Impact of the 2024 New Colombo Plan on Australian Students

Jul. 26, 2024

As part of the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan, Mitsui & Co. has been dedicated to providing young Australians with enriching opportunities to explore the culture, history, business practices, and lifestyle of Japan, as well as insights into Mitsui’s corporate ethos.

Since the program’s inception in 2015, Mitsui has hosted a total of 106 Australian university students at our head office in Tokyo for a two-week immersive experience.

This year, we were delighted to welcome 14 exceptional participants from the University of Western Australia, University of Technology Sydney, University of Adelaide, and James Cook University

Each participant found the program to be a deeply transformative and enriching experience.

Here’s what some of them had to say:

"The program not only broadened my professional knowledge but also allowed me to develop a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture, making it a truly enriching and rewarding experience."

"I was really impressed and thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Mitsui. I learned so much about Japan and even about my own country, Australia."

"I thought the program was very efficient and immersive, providing an in-depth look into Mitsui’s goals and projects."

"The two-week Mitsui & Co. immersion program was an incredibly insightful, fun, and interactive experience. I loved the mix of site visits, seminars, and cultural experiences."

We are proud to support the New Colombo Plan and hope that this experience has provided each participant with a greater understanding of Japanese culture and valuable insights that will positively influence their future career paths.
