Since 2008, Mitsui Resources Pty. Ltd. (MRP) has been sponsoring qualified Japanese teachers to teach Japanese language, history and cultural activities in schools and community groups in Moura, Central Queensland.

In May 2023, the cultural sessions were held at Moura State High School and Primary School, with the themes 'Spring in Japan' and 'Life in Japan'. While the Japanese traditional Radio Taiso (radio exercise) was introduced at Moura State Primary School as part of their Athletic Carnival Day, Moura Community Session was held to learn about Kirigami (paper cutting) and Japanese Calligraphy.
