Mitsui Perth welcomes young talent from Sister State

Mar. 2, 2023

Hyogo Prefecture and Western Australia have had a Sister State relationship since June 23, 1981. Since then, there has been variety of exchange activities, including mutual dispatch of high school students and teachers, economic exchange based on the Hyogo/Kansai-Western Australia trade and investment initiatives.

On Thursday 23 February, Mitsui & Co. (Australia) Ltd.’s Perth office was delighted to welcome 20 first year students from the University of Hyogo’s Global Leader Education Program, which is a new initiative with Mitsui following the pandemic.

The visit to Mitsui, Perth forms part of the university’s “Introduction to Global Project (Overseas)” where the students attempt to research and tackle global problems.

The students consisted of various areas of studies belonging to the School of Science, School of Economics & Management, Engineering, Human Science and Environment and Nursing. For many students it was their first time overseas and travelling by airplane! The session consisted of an introduction to Mitsui’s wide range of business activities, global operations and overseas experiences, including visualization by watching Mitsui’s “Our Business” corporate video.

The student’s interests ranged from the SDGs, protection of the environment and renewables to health & wellness and their curiosity about working overseas.   This was an excellent opportunity enabling each student to express, engage and offer their unique insight into their interests as the next generation of Japanese business leaders.
