Families in Onslow are celebrating funding to support extra childcare places in town.

Rod Baker, General Manager of Onslow Salt, understands the struggles of workers living in Onslow securing childcare and says funding to attract, retain and train much-needed additional staff will allow more families to access quality childcare.

“An increase in vital childcare services will have a direct impact on local families and better meet the needs of the community. As a regional employer, we need it to bring families to town and to keep families in town,” Rod said.

Onslow Salt has partnered with the Onslow Chamber of Commerce, the Shire of Ashburton, BHP and Chevron to assist One Tree Community Services, the operators of the centre, with attraction and retention of staff.

The support package provides a financial incentive to encourage Onslow locals to undertake qualifications, as well as attract new qualified residents to the community.
