Look into the heart of Japan

Mar. 11, 2020

The participants from the 2019 MEF Study Tour of Japan were recently welcomed back to Mitsui’s office in Melbourne to talk about their experiences and reflect on what they had discovered over their three-week study tour.

Adi Marcus, a student at Melbourne University said the MEF’s extensive travel itinerary provided her with the most culturally immersive experience that she has ever experienced.

“My views and understanding of respect, tradition, business and international trade were completely reshaped by this insightful window into Japan. The special moments and important life lessons that I took with me far exceeded my expectations of how this tour would influence my self-perception and my professional prospects,”

As part of the trip, the students travel through Japan and take part in activities to learn about the country's history, business, industry, contemporary and traditional culture, and relationship with Australia.

University of NSW student, Oltan Sevinc said the tour is a cherished memory, and Japan will always have a special place in his heart.

“As I got on the plane home to Australia, I wasn’t sad because my Japan experience was over, I was happy that it began with such an enjoyable experience. I have no doubt in my mind that I would be going back, sooner or later”

“For now, I’m holding onto the personal relations I had the chance to create. I feel incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity,” Oltan said.
