Coal and karaage a popular mix

Sep. 4, 2019

In late August almost 30 volunteers from Mitsui travelled to Central Queensland to host the Mitsui Cultural Tent at the annual Moura Coal & Country Festival.

For a gold coin donation, festival attendees sampled traditional Japanese food, craft and cultural activities. All prepared by the Mitsui volunteers. The Mitsui tent raised close to $2,000, with all funds collected donated to community groups across Moura.

Starting in 1971, the festival attracts thousands of Moura locals, visitors and past residents each year with events including the Queensland Coal Shovelling titles.

A joint venture partner with Anglo American in the nearby Dawson Mine, Mitsui Coal Holdings are a major sponsor of the festival.
