Shark Bay Salt congratulates Malgana People on Native Title recognition

Dec. 14, 2018

Shark Bay Salt recently joined with the Malgana People from Gatharagudu (Shark Bay) in celebrating their Native Title determination at an on country Federal Court hearing in Denham.

Shark Bay Salt Manager of Human Resource and Commercial, Andrew Bohnen addressed the hearing and congratulated the Malgana native title holders and their representatives on realising this landmark outcome.

“This determination has been a long journey. It is a credit to the Malgana and the Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation who have toiled through the often long and difficult process to reach this milestone.”

“This legal recognition affirms what the Malgana People have always known, that they belong to this land and this land belongs to them.”

Mr Bohnen highlighted the determination as an opportunity for Shark Bay Salt and the Magana People to capitalise on their working partnership.

“Trust and open communication are keys to ensuring that we maintain and continue to develop a positive and mutually beneficial relationship that protects the health of the land and provides for sustainable development opportunities.”

“Shark Bay Salt’s relationship with the Malgana People is central to our commitment to the community we operate in,” Mr Bohnen said.
