Employees volunteer at Melbourne’s annual Japanese Summer Festival - February 2018

Mar. 2, 2018

On 25 February, nine employees from Mitsui’s Melbourne office volunteered at the 2018 Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival.

Since 2010, the festival has showcased contemporary and traditional Japanese culture, crafts and food to deepen cultural exchange between Melbourne’s community and Japan.

This year,  festival-goers were invited to join in the fun of Taikodrumming, Kendo, and Bon dance. Kumamon, a bear-likemascot from Kumamoto Prefecture, even made a special appearance!

Mitsui Australia CEO Yukio Takebe delivered the festival’s opening speech. Then Mitsui volunteers worked behind the scenes serving Japanese beverages to visitors in the beer garden.

Mitsui is proud to support the Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival. It’s a great way to contribute to the local community in which we operate and promote friendship between Australia and Japan.
