Project Description

1. Learning about the environment through science - environmental science classes to be held annually for three years:
During an exhibition held in Sendai during the second week of October, eight classrooms will be specially prepared at the Eco-products Tohoku venue (Yume Messe Miyagi) in collaboration with universities and public research institutions, and will be used to hold learning experiences taught by academics in the environmental education field for groups from elementary schools in the Sendai area. These will be held every year for three years from 2008.
2. Environmental Koshien, environmental photo contest, and environmental slogan grand prize - to be held annually for three years:
Contests will be held for environmental research, initiatives, photos, and slogan and will be open to elementary, junior high and high school students, with prizes being awarded to the best creations and initiatives. The aim is to cultivate individuals who will build an environmental network.

Establishment purpose
The environmental impact of everyday life is creating issues such as permanent global warming and is already stretching the earth's regenerative capabilities to their limits. Persisting with society in its current form will lead to crisis. The Tohoku Chamber of Environment was established with the aim of conservation through environment-conscious business operation in order to realize the creation of a recycling-orientated society, and conducts initiatives such as reducing the creation of waste, providing information that facilitates the use of renewable resources, as well as activities proposing, researching, raising awareness and cultivating personnel for environmental initiatives with the goal of contributing to increased prosperity for the entire planet.
