Introduction to Grant Projects
Japan Sustainable Investment Forum
Holding of a community investment study meet and advising on business models
Activity grant
- Project Description
Socially responsible investment (SRI), in which interest is increasing in Japan, is comprised of the three elements of (1)screening of investment target corporations, (2)shareholder behavior (advocacy) and (3)community investment. However, the current situation with regards to awareness of SRI is that there remains little progress in understanding towards community investment, and any understanding is limited to screening as a method of corporate evaluation as represented in SRI funds, and shareholder behavior (including boycott campaigns) for evaluation of corporations by citizens. In this context, a study meet was established within this organization, and the necessity of community investment for society was explored, with the aim of building, and offering opinions on, a specific model for Japan. Additionally, a framework for corporate social contributions through business (socially responsible business) and a framework for participation in project planning to include citizens and engage with society were explored.
