Workstyles that Empower Individuals to Succeed
Mitsui & Co. Group aims to create environments in which individuals and their colleagues can create new value worldwide, leading to growth for employees and the company, so that it can enhance its competitiveness by quickly and flexibly adapting to changes in business conditions, while also taking proper care of the health and safety of employees.
There is variation in the details of workstyles used by each company. However, all pursue policies that reflect business needs and other factors, while complying with regulatory requirements in the countries and regions where they are developing business.
Mitsui implements various measures to create environments in which individual employees can work energetically as professionals, while independently and proactively selecting where and when to work according to the nature and circumstances of their tasks.
Annual paid leave on an hourly basis <Mitsui>
This measure supports realization of a more prioritized workstyle by enabling employees to take a necessary leave more conveniently when they need it.
Employees can take up to the equivalent of five days of their annual paid leave in hourly units. (The same applies to all annual leave for nursing care and family care [10 days each per year]).
Flextime working system <Mitsui>
By allowing employees to choose their own working hours autonomously, work-life management can be improved for our diverse workforce.
This has been introduced across the entire company, with core hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and flexible hours from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., during which employees can decide when to start and finish work.
This system encourages employees to demonstrate their professional performance in a way that is not dependent on the length of working hours, and will also contribute to increased employee engagement.
Remote working system <Mitsui>
Employees can choose the work location best suited to their business needs. There is no limit to the number of times employees can use the system. With the approval of the unit and in accordance with business needs, employees can use the system as long as they are located within commuting distance of their workplace.
This system aims to strengthen the company's competitiveness by expanding workstyle options so employees will be able to improve performance, as well as to achieve work-life management with individual appeal and vitality through physical and mental enrichment.
Company dress code <Mitsui>
Each unit sets its own dress code to reflect industry-related needs and business practices, which vary from organization to organization.
The system respects the self-discipline of employees as professionals, improves work productivity and efficiency, and encourages the free flows of ideas.
Concurrent/ additional jobs <Mitsui>
Employees can take on concurrent or additional jobs with company approval in order to build experience and foster autonomous career development.
This system is seen as a way to create a virtuous cycle for both the company and employees by enabling employees to acquire diverse perspectives and skills through activities that comply with company guidelines.
