Mitsui has been conducting demonstration tests for the use of hydrogen in power generation projects in Japan and has invested in FirstElement Fuel (FEF), a company developing hydrogen stations in California, U.S.A. FEF is aiming to expand its hydrogen station network in line with the spread of hydrogen-fueled fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). As a lead investor, MHI is working with FEF to expand services for commercial vehicles, which are expected to grow in the future.
