Mitsui & Co. Selected as a "Competitive IT Strategy Company" for Fifth Consecutive Year

Apr. 24, 2019

Mitsui & Co. ("Mitsui", Head Office: Tokyo, President & CEO: Tatsuo Yasunaga) has been selected by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) as a "Competitive IT Strategy Company" for 2019.

The "Competitive IT Strategy Company" initiative recognizes companies that leverage IT to strengthen products and services, transform business models to create new value, and increase competitiveness through strategic engagement in these activities. This is the fifth consecutive year Mitsui has been selected since the creation of the initiative in 2015.

We received high acclaim for our efforts in company-wide business operation reforms utilizing IT tools, including productivity improvement by building and utilizing digital twins for heavy industry assets such as energy facilities, electric plants, vessels, and manufacturing lines, as well as developments across a wide range of services and industries, spanning each of the businesses in which we are involved through to sports and entertainment, and including such initiatives as the establishment of a dynamic pricing platform business.

Going forward, we will continue aiming to strengthen our profit base and achieve sustainable growth through the active promotion of digital transformation, taking on the challenge of creating new added value and new businesses unique to Mitsui.
