Introduction to Grant Projects

Iinashi River Regeneration Net

Iinashi river riverbed grass cultivation - hydrophilic, environmental conservation, livestock promotion and CO2 reduction business

Activity grant

Project Description

Since the construction of the upstream dam in the Iinashi river in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, the riverbed and levee downstream has been covered with bamboo, trees and weeds and has become a dumping ground for large pieces of garbage such as tyres. This NPO is a collaborative practice between the government, private sector and industrial sector. From 2007, we cut down thick weeds overgrown across the rivebed and levee to open the sky to the riverbeds and improve living conditions for residents. In order to maintain this condition, we cultivated pasture in the regenerated area, currently across 22ha. We are creating a plan for the pasture business to become independent after two years.
