Mitsui Bussan do Brasil Foundation was established by Mitsui & Co. (Brasil) S.A. together with its local subsidiaries and associated companies in 2008, and actively undertakes many social contribution activities.

Mitsui Bussan do Brasil Foundation collaborated with SuperVia, a group company and with UNICEF (the United Nations Children’s Fund), in donating health kits to 2,345 households (approx. 10,000 people) in low income communities located along the Rio de Janeiro railway lines. In these areas, many people live in environments with poor sanitary conditions and they are in need of support to fight against the spread of COVID-19.

The kits, which were created to provide a one-month supply of essential items for a family of four, are packed with soap, a solid detergent, a bottle of liquid detergent, a bottle of alcohol-based sanitizing gel, bleach, feminine hygiene products, and a guide book on preventing infection and promoting health. Two kits were distributed to each family through local partners and NGO, and households headed by women or young mothers were prioritized. Educational campaigns led by community youth groups were also organized to teach people how to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As the impact from COVID-19 persists, we want to do what we can do now to help the people living in these communities. Through the Brazil One-Mitsui Social Contribution Activities, which arose from this desire to help, Mitsui & Co. (Brasil) S.A. will continue to contribute to the betterment of living standards and the development of local industries.
