EPDM Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Terpolymer
Mitsui EPT (Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Terpolymer) is EPDM that MITSUI CHEMICALS, INC., succeeded in domestic production for the first time in Japan and it is based on the advanced olefin polymerization technology.

MITSUI EPT, which is excellent in workability, weather resistance, heat aging resistance, electrical insulation property, cold resistance and chemical resistance.

MITSUI EPT keeps up with diversifying and advancing needs by a well-developed distribution network and technical service. MITSUI CHEMICALS supplies differentiated grades which contribute to customers' developing high performance products and total cost down.
MITSUI CHEMICALS proposes the best solution to each customer and establishes "One to One relationship" to each customer.

1) Weather and Ozone Resistance
The main chain of MITSUI EPT consists of chemically stable saturated hydrocarbon. Therefore, it is not degraded due to broken molecular main chain even if it is exposed to sunlight or high concentrations of ozone for a long time. Additionally, if MITSUI EPT is blended into the another diene rubbers including SBR and NR, etc that have poor weather and ozone resistance, the weather and ozone resistance are improved significantly.

2) Heat and Cold Resistance
The main chain of MITSUI EPT consists of chemically stable saturated hydrocarbon. Therefore, it shows excellent heat aging resistance. It can be used for longer period and in higher temperature than the another diene rubbers including SBR, NR and CR, etc. It shows excellent dynamical characteristics even in lower temperature. It can be compared to NR and better than SBR.

Operating Temperature Limit of Rubbers

3) Electrical Insulation Property
MITSUI EPT has excellent characteristics as insulating material. Especially, corona resistance is better than NR, SBR and IIR and tracking resistance is very good.

Electrlceal Insulation Property of Rubbers

4) Resistance to Chemicals
MITSUI EPT has resistance to chemicals including organic solvents with relatively higher polar character (alcohol, ketone and glycol, etc), water solution of inorganic salt, acid and alkali.

Applications:

automotive parts, civil engineering and building materials, electrical cables, etc.
