Key responsibilities:

As part of our Business Support and Control Department, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and business support through financial analysis and accounting expertise. Your responsibilities will include:

 

• Processing, verifying, and posting supplier and customer invoices
• Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities
• Analysing financial performance and business results against budgets and forecasts
• Maintaining general ledger accounts and ensuring the accuracy of accounting master data
• Acting as a trusted business partner and point of contact for accounting-related matters across various business departments
• Supporting the implementation of new projects, system enhancements, and process improvements within the Accounting and Business Support and Control Department
• Preparing and submitting Intrastat reports and VAT returns
• Reviewing and monitoring VAT-relevant transactions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations

• Preparing financial reports, analyses, statistics, and management information to support business decision-making
• Contributing to forecasting, budgeting, and business planning processes

Your qualifications and Experience:

• Successfully completed university studies (bachelor’s or master’s degree) in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Or completed commercial training supplemented by further professional qualification as an Accountant (IHK), ideally as an International Accountant (IHK)
• Professional experience in accounting, finance, taxation, or a comparable position.
• Sound knowledge of German accounting principles (HGB) and a good understanding of international accounting standards.
• Solid knowledge of taxation, particularly VAT regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Experience working with SAP S/4HANA or SAP HANA.

2. Risk Management Analyst (m/f/d)

Key responsibilities:

As a Risk Management Analyst, you will play a key role in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating business risks across Mitsui's operations. Your responsibilities will include:

 

• Managing a broad range of risk matters, including credit, market, country, and investment risks relating to the businesses of Mitsui EMEA (primarily Mitsui & Co. Deutschland GmbH) and affiliated companies.
• Conducting comprehensive quantitative and qualitative risk assessments of counterparties, business partners, and investment opportunities.
• Providing expert recommendations and guidance to business departments and senior management regarding credit lines, trading limits, and investment decisions.
• Performing due diligence by visiting and interviewing counterparties, credit agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to gather information and evaluate risk exposures.
• Monitoring overdue receivables and credit limit breaches, identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and reporting findings to management.
• Monitoring long and short positions and analysing risk events, including limit excesses, loss limit breaches, and maximum risk volume exceedances.
• Supporting the management and resolution of unexpected or emerging risk issues.
• Developing and implementing debt recovery strategies across the EMEA region while liaising with debtors, insurers, legal counsel, insolvency practitioners, and courts.
• Delivering seminars, workshops, and training initiatives to strengthen risk awareness and risk management competencies across business departments.

Your qualifications and Experience:

• University degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
• Experience in B2B risk management, preferably within an international trading company, commercial or investment bank, credit insurer, or comparable environment.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, particularly in the assessment of consolidated financial statements.
• Solid knowledge of accounting and finance, including corporate finance and project finance concepts.
• Understanding international commercial practices, including payment methods, trade finance, and Incoterms.
• Familiarity with insolvency proceedings, collateral management, and debt recovery processes.
• Good understanding of international macroeconomic developments and their potential impact on business operations.

3. Working Student (m/f/d) Business Development & Market Analysis

Part-time, up to 19 hours per week - fixed-term contract for 6 months - The position is based in the First Basic Chemicals Department. The department markets and distributes chemical raw materials and develops new business opportunities across Europe. Its focus is on basic chemicals and solvents. Working closely with international manufacturers, customers and logistics partners, the team actively contributes to the entire value chain. Activities range from market analysis and business development to sales and procurement, as well as the development of efficient supply chain and logistics solutions.

Your tasks:

• Support market, competitor and portfolio analyses, as well as research on products, customers, suppliers and market trends
• Prepare, analyse and evaluate market and business data to support decision-making processes
• Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and the introduction of new products
• Support the optimisation of sales, procurement and supply chain processes
• Prepare product, market and management presentations
• Maintain and update customer, product and logistics overviews

5. Working Student (m/f/d) Focus on REACH Management

Your tasks:

• Support the handling and preparation of REACH-related requests from business departments, including the consolidation and documentation of incoming information in a central system
• Assist in reviewing and recording product compositions, as well as in checking REACH Declarations of Conformity (e.g., SVHC) and Safety Data Sheets
• Support the review and verification of documentation completeness in the areas of REACH and CLP
