Walking for the March of Dimes®
Mitsui Bussan Logistics Inc. (MBLI) employees put their heartfelt efforts into the 2018 March for Babies®.
Employees, with family, not only participated in their local Dallas, TX, walk, they collected pledges and raised funds through office-held MBLI activities – to help all mothers have healthy, full-term pregnancies.
The March of Dimes was founded 1938 by U.S. President F.D. Roosevelt as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in response to a polio epidemic. In 1955 a safe, potent and effective Salk polio vaccine was proven so that concerted efforts could begin in 1958 to prevent birth defects. The first charitable walking event in the U.S., WalkAmerica or the March for Babies, began 1970 with Mitsui joining in 1981.
These days, the NICO (Newborn Intensive Care Unit) Family Support program of March of Dimes at U.S. hospitals nationwide helps when something goes wrong for families with preemie babies, born too soon or with birth defects.
Let’s help give moms the information and care needed before, during and after pregnancy. Hope to see you all next year!
