Creating a Homemade Meal for Those in Temporary Shelter

Mitsui Cleveland truly enjoys being active locally as part of its good corporate citizenship.  So, to help usher in the hot and hazy days of summertime, employees decided to lend heart and hand for the residents of Northeast Ohio’s Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties.
For a homey 2017 celebration of summer, a small, yet, mighty crew of three Mitsui employees began through a donation of the ingredients needed for sweet baked treats made in their ovens and brought to the Battered Women’s Shelter, and continued through the preparation of a tasty “home cooked” dinner in the Shelter’s kitchen.
Kudos Cleveland for such a thoughtful initiative. The families and individuals of the Battered Women’s Shelter surely enjoyed all of your cuisine and appreciated knowing their neighbors care.
The Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties (SCMCBWS) strives for “family peace” and to lead the community in the prevention of domestic abuse by providing emergency shelter, advocacy and education in an effort to break the cycle of abuse and help promote peace in every familyThe Shelter sponsors a gamut of community-based emergency and supportive services, prevention programs and transitional living options for all families of violence and all women, men and children who are in danger of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.

Pajama Drive for the Children of Northeast Ohio

As Autumn once again brought frigid temperatures to The Great Lakes region, Mitsui Cleveland decided to pitch in and help the 2016 Pajama Drive run by the Richfield Village Parks and Recreation (Rec.) Department, OH. Because there is a very real, year-round need for new sleep ware for children residing in temporary facilities, a few years ago Richfield Village Rec. realized they could help by specifically collecting footed pajamas for the younger children and fleece pull-on bottoms with t-shirts for the older children. Organizations helped by the Richfield Village Rec. Pajama Drive, coordinated by the Northeast Ohio Pajama Program, include children from the Battered Women’s Shelter, Summit County Children Services, Someplace Safe, and Beatitude House. With a Parks and Recreation mission to provide recreational and leisure activities, facilities, and public spaces that create opportunities for health, fitness, relaxation, enjoyment, learning and community interaction, the Village of Richfield, OH, helps for many needs including programs for: Recycling, Home Emergency Monitoring, Noontime Meal Deliveries, Eastwood Preserve and Community Gardens, a Senior Center, Safe (Baby) Sitter™, and a Children’s Summer Day Camp, among others.
