Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui", Head Office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Kenichi Hori) and Nissin Food Products Co., Ltd. ("Nissin Foods", Head Office: Tokyo, President: Noritaka Ando) have reached agreement on the collaborative research project to verify the effectiveness of "Complete Nutrition Meals" developed by Nissin Foods, using My Nightingale, that visualize current health status and predict the future of health operated by Mitsui's subsidiary Welltus, Inc. ("Welltus").

Nightingale Health, to which Mitsui invested in 2019, has developed a proprietary blood test which utilizes NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance). The Nightingale blood test analyses 250 biomarkers from a single sample which can be used for example for nutrition research and development. My Nightingale is a preventative health service available in Japan that visualises current health status and shows future disease risks. My Nightingale utilizes algorithms developed through the collaborative research with Finnish Biobank and validated with BioBank Japan to visualize health status as a "health score" and "risk of lifestyle disease".*1

Mitsui aims to develop a business model in Japan that will help consumers obtain health insights and live a healthier lives through providing a personalized solution based on each consumer's health status and preferences. Through this business model, Mitsui strives to contribute to the prevention of lifestyle diseases and other conditions as well as Health life expectancy.

"Complete Nutrition Meals" developed by Nissin Foods are formulated to provide all essential nutrients while controlling calories, amounts of salt, carbohydrates, fat, and other ingredients, without compromising the appearance or flavor. Nissin Foods has been developing 300 products in its range of "Complete Nutrition Meals". The aim of this joint project is to verify the impact of these products on health conditions based on scientific evidence using My Nightingale.

Mitsui has identified healthcare and nutrition as a priority business domain under its Medium-term Management Plan 2023 and is building a cluster of health-related businesses through its company-wide pursuit called "Wellness All Mitsui" (WAM). This project is an initiative to provide evidence-based scientific solutions within the WAM framework. Through this project, Mitsui aims to help people enjoy fulfilling lives.

*1 My Nightingale is not a service for diagnosing the illnesses. It estimates the risk that a person with similar test results for blood biomarkers to the tested user will suffer from cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes within 10 years.
