Mitsui receives Securities Analysts Association Award for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure for third consecutive year

Mitsui & Co. Ltd. has been selected by The Securities Analysts Association of Japan for the top award in the commerce industry category at the 2019 Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure. This is the fourth time in total and the third year running that the company has received this award. It was also awarded third place in the disclosure to individual investors category (all industries).

The award selection process is carried out by the Corporate Disclosure Study Group, established by The Securities Analysts Association of Japan, who evaluates the quality, volume and timing of a corporation's disclosure practices in accordance with the following criteria: (1) management's stance on investor relations, the function of a corporation's investor relations department, and a company's basic stance on investor relations; (2) disclosures by means of meetings, interviews and explanatory materials, (3) fairness of disclosure, (4) disclosure of information related to corporate governance and (5) voluntary disclosure of information based on the conditions of each industry. For each criteria, Mitsui was evaluated first place in categories (1) through (3) and second place in categories (4) and (5).

As for disclosure to individual investors, evaluation is based upon the following criteria: (1) activities such as holding company briefing sessions for individual investors; (2) disclosures posted on the company's website; and (3) business reports, etc.

Mitsui will strive to further enhance the quality and fairness of corporate disclosure by deepening engagement with all stakeholders, including shareholders and investors, in order to realize our proper market value.
