Mitsui & Co. has been selected by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) as a 'Competitive IT Strategy Company' for 2018.

The 'Competitive IT Strategy Company' initiative recognizes companies that leverage IT to strengthen products and services, transform business models to create new value, and that increase competitiveness through strategic engagement in these activities. This is the fourth consecutive year Mitsui has been selected since the creation of the initiative in 2015.

In addition to efforts aimed at realizing operational improvements and better asset quality at a gas-fired power plant in Mexico and a dynamic pricing platform business created through our new business incubation program Karugamo Works, this year the systematic innovation of our legacy system received high acclaim.

Through the use of IT, we aim to establish new growth fields and strengthen our profit base by challenging ourselves to create new added value and businesses unique to Mitsui & Co.
