On February 1, 2017, operations began at Softbank Hamamatsu Chukai Solar Park, a large-scale solar power plant run by Mitsui & Co. and SB Energy Corp in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Softbank Hamamatsu Chukai Solar Park has been built on 531,000m² (about 53.1ha) of land in Hamamatsu’s Nishi-Ku and has a maximum output of about 43,400kW (43.4MW). This mega solar power plant is expected to generate about 53,924,000kWH per year, which is equivalent to the amount of power consumed by 14,979 average families. The plant is being managed by Hamamatsu Chukai Solar Park K.K., a company established by Mitsui and SB Energy Corp.
Mitsui and SB Energy Corp. will continue to build and operate renewable power generation facilities, including mega solar plants, with the aim of promoting and expanding the use of clean energy.
