Mitsui & Co. (Guangdong) Ltd. strives to make contributions to local communities through the generation of "Yoi-shigoto" (good quality work) in accordance with the management philosophy of the Mitsui Group which comprises its Mission, Vision and Values (MVV), while raising the awareness of each of our employees towards corporate social responsibility. With this mind, we are engaging in various CSR activities that include those described below.

Overview of Our CSR Activities

Activities for the promotion of cultural exchange between Japan and China

(1) Support for "Lecture Tour in Guangzhou"

Mitsui was part of the "Lecture Tour in Guangzhou," a program which was aimed at introducing Japanese corporate culture and was sponsored jointly by the Consulate General of Japan in Guangzhou and the Guangzhou Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry. During 2012, as part of the program, a lecture was held at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, an alma mater of many of our employees.

(2) Donations of Japanese newspapers and magazines

To help local Chinese students gain a better understanding of, and a deeper interest in the Japanese economy and culture, we regularly make donations of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei), the Nikkei Business Daily, and the Weekly Toyo Keizai to the major universities in the City of Guangzhou.

Employee volunteer activities at Mitsui & Co. in Guangdong

As part of our employee volunteer activities in accordance with the recommendations of Mitsui's CSR Promotion Committee, we established the Mitsui & Co. (Guangdong) Ltd. Volunteer Fund in 2010, which invites all employee volunteers to participate. The Fund’s main activities are making donations of used clothing, providing tuition assistance to students from low-income families, and activities to relieve and assist victims of earthquake disasters.
