Bunbury Relay For Life

Dec. 2, 2019

Bunbury Fibre Export employees recently helped raise the marques for an event that raises funds for cancer.

The Cancer Council’s annual Relay For Life event brings communities together to celebrate cancer survival, remember loved ones lost and empower teams of families, friends and colleagues to raise money to fight back against cancer.

The Bunbury event had close to 700 participants and topped the fundraising record of $175,000. More than 68 teams spent 24 hours clocking up laps around the oval at Bunbury's Payne Park.

The two-day event sees participants camp overnight, with some soldiering on through the night into the morning, to raise funds for cancer research and information and support services for those undergoing treatment.

Brett Humble, General Manager Operations said that he and the team at Bunbury Fibre Exports were keen to lend a hand.

"Relay for Life is a chance for the Bunbury community to walk with those who have gone through or know of people who have had cancer.”

"This is our small way to support them," Brett said.
