Eating cake to fight cancer

Mitsui’s Melbourne and Perth offices filled their mouths and emptied their pockets as they both hosted an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event, earlier this month.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is the Cancer Council’s most popular fundraising event and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia

The annual event is one of the major fundraisers of the Cancer Council of Australia that aims to promote cancer-control policies and to reduce the illness caused by cancer in Australia.

It was not just sugar levels raised by the delicious baked sweet treats on offer, the Melbourne team raised $270 and Perth collected over $680.

Human Resource Coordinator, Antonina Sinna said the event was a great way to get colleagues together and raise vital money for people affected by cancer.

"Everybody really enjoyed the morning and all of the donations go towards helping the Cancer Council achieve its mission of a cancer-free future,” she said.

Antonina thanked the team members who contributed to the morning tea in helping to raise not just funds but awareness.

"Most of us will be impacted by cancer in our lifetime. While it is a simple act, sharing a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake with your work mates can make a difference to those impacted by cancer.”
