New York, NY, March 30, 2007 - Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. (Mitsui USA) announced today that Yasunori Yokote has been appointed, as of April 1, President & Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Motokazu Yoshida, who is returning to Japan. Mr. Yokote will assume his role in April. He will concurrently serve as an Executive Vice President of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Mitsui USA's parent company in Tokyo, and its Chief Operating Officer of the Americas Business Unit.

Mr. Yokote is a graduate of the University of Tokyo with a degree in Economics. He joined Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in 1970 and has since built his career mainly in the Company's steel products business area, which makes up a significant portion of the Company's trade and investment activities globally. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Yokote was Mitsui & Co.'s senior executive in charge of the Corporate Staff Sector which included Corporate Planning, Personnel, Public Relations and Logistics Management, and served, since April 2005, as an Executive Director Senior Executive Managing Officer and the Chief Compliance Officer.

Previously, Mr. Yokote served in overseas posts three times, in: Teheran with Mitsui & Co. Iran Ltd. (1986-88); New York with Mitsui USA as Assistant to its Executive Vice President and concurrently as President of the Mitsui Steel Development Co. (1990-95); and Jakarta as the Chief Representative in Indonesia of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and President of P.T. Mitsui Indonesia (2002-04).

In New York, Mr. Yokote will assume civic leadership roles at various organizations including The Nippon Club, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York, the Japan Society, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and Baruch College of The City University of New York, among others.

Mr. Yoshida, who successfully led Mitsui USA's record achievements in business and corporate citizenship during his two-year tenure in New York, will become a Senior Executive Managing Officer, the Chief Information Officer, and the Chief Operating Officer of the Business Process Re-Engineering Project Headquarters at Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Tokyo. Additionally, he is slated to become an Executive Director of the Company in June 2007.
