On June 30, 2015, Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc., and capital partner Yorozu Corporation, held an opening ceremony to mark the launch of their Brazilian automotive components manufacturing business, Yorozu Automotiva do Brasil Ltda. (YAB), in Resende, Rio de Janeiro.
The business will specialize in the manufacture and sales of suspension components for passenger vehicles, together with Yorozu, who is expanding its business globally. The new plant is located between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo—Brazil's two major centers of demand automobiles, and is also adjacent to Nissan's Resende Plant. Business partners Yorozu and Mitsui & Co. are also making progress with the expansion of a similar joint business at two plants in China.
Many distinguished guests were welcomed to the opening ceremony, including Resende City Mayor José Renchuan Junior, Japanese Consul-General in Rio de Janeiro Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, Honda South America LTDA. President Isao Mizoguchi, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. SAO's Akihiro Nakayama, and Nissan do Brasil Automóveis Ltda. Plant Manager, Hitoshi Mano, along with Partner Yorozu's Chairman Akihiko Shido and President Kazumi Sato.
After the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is expected to grow into one of the leading automobile markets in the world, and YAB will continue to contribute to Brazil's development through the supply of automotive components.
