Mitsui & Co. receives Bronze Class rating in RobecoSAM socially responsible investment (SRI) index

Jul. 17, 2014

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has been awarded a Bronze Class rating by RobecoSAM, a Swiss company that carries out corporate analyses focusing on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG). The rating, Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index, is a leading socially responsible investment (SRI) index developed jointly by RobecoSAM and S&P Dow Jones LLC. A Bronze Class rating is given to companies that make outstanding efforts in these areas. This marks the fourth consecutive year in which Mitsui has earned a rating, following a Gold Class rating in fiscal 2010 and Bronze Class in fiscal 2011 and fiscal 2012.

Mitsui received the highest score in the industry for the environmental dimension, with its initiatives to improve environmental efficiency in the context of business operations. Mitsui also received a high score for the economic dimension, including codes of conduct and compliance efforts, and customer relationship management. The assessment also pointed out that there was room for improvement in the social dimension. By learning from these evaluations as we work steadily to strengthen ESG-related initiatives, Mitsui will continue with its efforts to implement CSR activities targeted toward the sustainable development of society.
