Mitsui to open a clinic specializing in treatment of liver diseases and living donor liver transplant surgery in Singapore

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui," head office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Masami Iijima) and International Frontier Medical Support ("IFMS," head office: Kobe, Hyogo, Chairman: Kozo Kikuchi) will open a clinic specializing in treatment of liver diseases and living donor liver transplant surgery ("The Clinic") at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital ("MNH") in Singapore. MNH is under the umbrella of IHH Healthcare Bhd. ("IHH"), a company which Mitsui holds 20.5% interest. The Clinic is scheduled to open in May 2013 after receiving necessary approvals from relevant authorities of Singapore.

IFMS is a general incorporated association led by Dr. Tanaka, one of Japan's top transplant surgeons, with other liver specialist doctors also in the association. Dr. Tanaka has ample of experience of living donor liver transplant surgeries at over 2,000 cases across over 9 countries in the world. In Singapore, he has operated and taught at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore General Hospital and National University Hospital.
IFMS will send Japanese doctors who will collaborate with the liver transplant team at Mount Elizabeth Hospital to provide living donor liver transplant surgery and Mitsui will support the operation of the Clinic.

Mitsui is putting emphasis on medical and healthcare businesses and since its investment in IHH, has been supporting IHH's global expansion as well as seeking for new business opportunities in supporting expansion of hospital peripheral service providers. As part of such effort, Mitsui has been searching for ways to export cutting-edge Japanese healthcare know-how to IHH. Through the new business, Mitsui intends to cater for the increasing needs of advanced medical treatment in Asia, contribute towards globalization of Japan's high quality healthcare service and increase the corporate value of IHH through adding on to its healthcare offering.
