Mitsui & Co., Ltd ("Mitsui") announces that we have entered into a strategic relationship with ACCA Wireless Co. Ltd. ("ACCA Wireless") and ACCA Networks Co. ("ACCA") and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. ("NTT DoCoMo") for supporting ACCA Wireless in WiMAX as a business partner.
In order to launch the mobile broadband wireless access (BWA) business based on WiMAX technology, today ACCA Wireless submitted an application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications for the installation of special base stations that use of 2.5 GHz bandwidth frequencies.
ACCA Wireless, ACCA, and NTT DoCoMo plan to build an open wireless network based on globally standardized technologies, which enables potential players to participate in the BWA operation.
By doing this, not only do the companies involved intend to contribute to the stimulation of the telecommunication industry in Japan, they also intend to respond to the various needs of users and contribute to the creation of an affluent society. As a business partner, Mitsui seeks to accelerate this open environment including financial participation in the months ahead.
