Construction of Wind Power Project in Poland Starts

Main Contents

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui"), in partnership with Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. ("J-POWER") and WFL Windfarmer AG, local partner ("WFL"), has launched a power generation project of a 48MW wind farm (24 turbines) in the region of Województwo Zachodniopomorskie in the north of Poland. Zajaczkowo Windfarm Sp. z o. o. ("ZWS"), the multinational joint venture project company located in Szczecin, Poland, was established among Mitsui (its ownership is 45%), J-POWER (45%) and WFL (10%).

This project will be the third overseas wind farm for Mitsui following the one in Germany and United States and it will be the first wind farm in which Japanease company participate in Poland.

Construction application has been submitted on 19th March, 2007 and construction work is to start in April 2007. Commercial operation is scheduled to start in February 2008 and to be in full in July 2008. All of the electric energy generated will be sold to Koncern Energetyczny ENERGA S.A., which is the state-run distribution company.

Mitsui would like to incorporate a wind power project into its asset portfolio and continue to be proactively involved in overseas power operations.
