Since the 1960's, Mitsui USA's Iron & Steel Products Division has been a leading value-chain provider specializing in streamlining processes at each step of value chain of steel products including managing inventory and process arrangements for the steel industry. The Division maintains alliances with steel makers, steel processors, and major local customers in the U.S. and other countries.

The Division is focusing on two core operations. One is Steel Technologies Inc. (“Steel Tech”) which Mitsui USA acquired in June, 2007. Steel Tech is a leading steel processor operating more than 20 steel processing facilities in North America. After transferring the Division’s flat steel business to Steel Tech in April 2008, Steel Tech has been the Division’s "Platform" company and core operation, processing flat-rolled steel and providing a wide range of value added services including pickling, cold strip and blanking mainly for the automobile industry.

Another core operation within the Division is Champion Pipe & Supply, Inc. (“CPS”) responsible for sales distribution and customer inventory management of energy related steel products inclusive of tubular products sales and distribution within Americas and other areas.
