Mitsui USA's Chemicals Division specializes in various organic and inorganic chemicals and chemical intermediates, plastic resins, compounds and final products, new materials, pharmaceutical intermediates, food additives, and fertilizer and crop protection chemicals. It is engaged in the domestic and international trade of these chemicals and intermediates as well as investments in such areas as feed additives, pet food flavor, crop protection, plastic compounding, and new materials.

Having strong capabilities in import-export logistics in the U.S., the Americas, Japan and Asia, and with further world access through Mitsui's global network and business expertise, this Division is a global player in the sourcing of chemicals and plastics and a strategic investor in the various chemical product areas. To select customers, it offers trade financing and access to markets through its various affiliates. The Division strengthens its knowledge of the industry through close ties with traditionally strong sources of various chemical products and investments in certain goods.

The Division's operations are extremely varied in its product range, starting from bulk petrochemicals to specialty products such as pharmaceutical intermediates that can be measured in grams. It has one of the most varied supplier and customer lists, numbering in the thousands. Its trading with various chemical companies ranges from major global players to smaller specialty manufacturers.

Some affiliated companies that support the Chemicals Division include: Nutriscience Technologies for pet food flavors and other feed related products; Certis USA LLC for biopesticides; Novus International for methionine, an amino-acid feed additive; Intercontinental Terminals which operates chemical tank facilities; Advanced Composites for plastic compounds for the automotive industry; Richmount for plastic moldings and other special parts for the automotive industry; and Beta-Chem U.S.A., a pharmaceutical intermediate process development and outsourcing consulting company.
