MITSUI GIVES $100,000 TO AID PERU EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EFFORTS
AND THE MITSUI USA FOUNDATION MATCHES ALL EMPLOYEE DONATIONS

New York (August 21, 2007) — Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. (Mitsui USA) announced today a $100,000 joint cash donation to aid the disaster relief operations in Peru.
Mitsui USA will donate $50,000 on behalf of the Mitsui Americas Business Unit for the August 15 earthquake in Peru. Additionally, The Mitsui USA Foundation, Mitsui USA’s charitable arm, announced that it will launch a special matching program for Mitsui USA’s and its qualified affiliates’ (*) employee donations to the organizations engaged in disaster relief operations in Peru.
Mr. Yasunori Yokote, President & CEO of Mitsui USA and Chief Operating Officer of Mitsui Americas Business Unit, noted, “As a concerned global citizen, we extend our heartfelt condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this disaster. It is our greatest wish that Mitsui can be of some help to the Peruvians suffering from this tragedy.”
(*) Qualified Affiliates means U.S. companies directly or indirectly owned 50% or more by Mitsui USA singularly or jointly with Mitsui & Co., Ltd.
