MITSUI USA ENDOWS ITS FOUNDATION:
The Mitsui USA Foundation is Endowed with $10 Million from Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.

The Mitsui USA Foundation will receive a $10 million contribution from its parent company, Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. (Mitsui USA), as an endowment.

After more than 16 years of Foundation operations, an endowment will help set in perpetuity the Company's good corporate citizenship. "Mitsui USA has always worked towards making positive differences where we do business. Endowing The Mitsui USA Foundation represents a long-term commitment to 'giving back' in our local communities," notes Mitsui USA President & CEO Motokazu Yoshida.

Established in 1987, this philanthropic arm of the company, The Mitsui USA Foundation, runs about 60 programs annually to promote global awareness and U.S.-Japan relations. Currently, the Foundation donates about $600,000 each year across the U.S. to support programs in the areas of education, arts and culture, community welfare, and employee volunteerism. "These public-oriented projects have been developed to help realize a true charitable purpose for Mitsui USA," says Shinichi Hirabayashi, President & CEO of the Foundation. "The endowment is not expected to immediately impact the nature or amount of Mitsui USA Foundation giving, but it will help assure continuity of our programs and better fulfillment of the Foundation's mission and objectives, with a long-range perspective."
