Mitsui USA President Named Senior Executive Managing Officer of Mitsui & Co., Ltd.

Motokazu Yoshida, Chairman for the Americas and President & CEO of Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. (Mitsui USA), has been elevated to a Senior Executive Managing Officer of the parent company Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Tokyo, (Mitsui & Co.) effective October 1, 2005.

Mr. Yoshida arrived in New York in May of this year as Mitsui USA's new head, while concurrently serving as an Executive Managing Officer of Mitsui & Co. and Chairman for the Americas overseeing all Mitsui units operating in the Americas.

"Mr. Yoshida's elevation to a new rank is significant in that he will join Mitsui & Co.'s executive committee which ultimately decides management policies and business strategies. This committee has a ranking officer from each of Mitsui & Co.'s four regional pillars, namely the Americas, Asia, Europe and Japan. Mr. Yoshida, therefore, will duly represent the Americas by coming on board," says Hiroyuki Kato, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Mitsui USA. "His appointment also reflects the parent company's great expectation for Mitsui Americas' contribution to Mitsui & Co.'s financial results, as well as its role to develop new businesses that impact Mitsui as a whole."

Mitsui USA, incorporated in New York in 1966 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., has 12 business divisions with over 200 subsidiaries and associated companies across the industries. For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2005, Mitsui USA marked revenue of $5,681 million with a record high net income of $101.1 million.
