In 1996, to promote the Company's philosophy of recognizing the importance of college education, and to enhance employees' decisions to provide their children with post-secondary educations, a scholarship initiative for sons' and daughters' of the Company's employees was sponsored in a commemoration of Mitsui USA's incorporation.

For Mitsui USA employees' children and its consolidated affiliates' employees' children, up to 15 merit-based, tax-exempt scholarships of $5,000 per academic year are awarded each September, automatically renewable up to three times for undergraduate studies pursued in good standing at all U.S. accredited two- and four-year colleges and universities, and technical and vocational schools.
